The HP Slate PC or HP Slate Tablet was presented by Microsoft on the Consumer Electronics Show 2010 (CES 2010) held at Las Vegas, Nevada. Microsoft hosted the presentation of the HP Slate PC or HP Slate Tablet because it is equipped with the Windows 7. Microsoft actually presented three tablets or slates but the HP Slate PC was emphasized. The HP Slate is the smallest among the three slates or tablet PCs.

The HP Slate PC was presented by Steve Ballmer of Microsoft. Ballmer described the HP Slate as a convenient piece of device that is as portable as a mobile phone and as powerful as a PC running Windows 7.
